Peter Monologue Script Excerpts Opening of Monologue Hosanna!
Hosanna! Blessed is he
who comes in the name of the Lord! Jesus of
Nazareth rode into Jerusalem that day amidst shouts of Hosanna!
Hosanna! That was less
than a week ago. Some of
the Pharisees were in the crowd that day and told Jesus to silence the
crowd. Jesus said, "If
these people are silent, the rocks will cry out!" Starting then the
relationship between Jesus and the Pharisees went down hill. Not long after entering Jerusalem, Jesus went to the temple, which was full of merchandisers, and became irate. He started turning over tables and running people out yelling, "It is written, 'My house is a house of prayer,' but you have made it a den of robbers." After this, the Pharisees began looking for some way to destroy Jesus. Communion Section During
dinner, Jesus took the bread, gave thanks, broke it, and gave it to us
saying "This is My body
which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me."
In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This
cup is the new covenant in my blood which is poured out for you; do this,
whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me." After
dinner we went to the Garden. On the way Jesus said, "This very night
you will all fall away on account of me."
I was amazed at the fact that Jesus doubted us.
I was more amazed that I was the only one who spoke up in
opposition. Jesus then told
me something that startled me. He
said that before the rooster crows, I will disown him three times. Conclusion of Monologue--Prior to Song The next
time I saw Jesus, He was on his way to be crucified.
He had stood before Pilate. The same people that yelled Hosanna! a
week ago were yelling Crucify Him! Crucify
Him! They chose a murderer
over Jesus. Now Jesus was on
the road to Calvary where he would be crucified between two criminals.
Immediately before he died he yelled…"IT IS FINISHED." The next
day was the Sabbath so, according to Jewish law, we could not even go to
the tomb to preserve the body. It…Was…Finished. |
